CAMP RANACHQUA 90th ANNIVERSARY JAMBOREE SEPTEMBER 20-22, 2019 CAMP RANACHQUA, TEN MILE RIVER SCOUT CAMPS ORGANIZED BY RANACHQUA FOUNDATION FOR BRONX TROOPS |

In 2019, Camp Ranachqua, T.M.R. is celebrating the 90th anniversary of its founding in 1929.
Before the mid-1950s, all Bronx Troops attended summer camp at Camp Ranachqua and it was widely known as the “Bronx Camp.” Both Ranachqua Foundation and Ranachqua Lodge originated from Camp Ranachqua. In recognition of this important anniversary, Ranachqua Foundation is organizing a Jamboree for all Bronx Troops at Camp Ranachqua, September 20-22, 2019.
Theme: The theme will be “Old-time Camping at Camp Ranachqua.” Today’s Bronx Scouts will experience what it was like to camp at Camp Ranachqua in the 1930s-1950s. We will practice “old-time” scout skills & games and there will be a Cook-O-Ree with “old-time” recipes. Scouts will be provided with and have the opportunity to wear and be photographed in old Scout uniforms from this period. There will be historical displays and movies on the history of Bronx Scouting and Camp Ranachqua in the camp dining hall. Today’s Bronx Scouts will be able to meet with former Bronx Camp Ranachqua campers.
Program Areas: Today’s Camp Ranachqua staff fully supports the Jamboree and will open up the various camp program areas, including: shooting, archery, climbing and field sports. There will be a campfire Saturday night in the Camp Ranachqua campfire area and religious services Sunday morning in the camp chapel.
Old-time Cook-O-Ree: All participating Troops will prepare an “old-time” dish for 15+ persons utilizing the Camp Ranachqua dining hall for food preparation, and charcoal stoves outside the dining hall for cooking. (They can also bring equivalent dishes with them to camp or pay for dinner.) All the dishes will be combined for a buffet dinner in the recently remodeled Camp Ranachqua dining hall with all Jamboree participants attending.
Overnight Camping: Each Bronx Troop will receive a tent site at Camp Ranachqua and expected to bring and use their own tents. If the Troop requires tents, T.M.R. does have some and will provide them upon request.
Fee: $10 per person. Includes use of a tent site, a patch hat, Troop ribbon and all program.
