Campership Assistance Program

RANACHQUA FOUNDATION, INC.
CAMPERSHIP ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Ranachqua Foundation was established in 1948 by Bronx Boy Scouts who attended the Ten Mile River Scout Camps during the summer in the late 1920’s and the 1930’s. The summer camp experience provided them with early leadership opportunities which, to a large degree, significantly affected their lives. This group, a few at first, grew while they worked together each summer and moved into staff positions at Camp Ranachqua at T.M.R.

Wanting to encourage others to partake in this program, they raised funds to provide campership money for Bronx Boy Scouts who would otherwise not be able to attend camp. Currently we assist in providing the opportunity for several hundred Bronx Cub and Boy Scouts to attend the T.M.R. and Cub World summer camp programs of Greater New York Councils, BSA, each year. In total, over 17,000 boys have received over $1,000,000 in subsidies.

We also award merit-based College Assistance grants to Bronx Scouts graduating from high school. Thus far over $520,000 has been paid out or committed for 87 deserving recipients.
